About

Ernest Paterson studied at the University of Toronto in his native city and was also the first student from that establishment to become a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, England. During his time in England in 1906, he also took part in several lawn tennis tournaments, including Wimbledon. In the summer of 1909, Ernest Paterson began to fall ill with what was eventually diagnosed as pseudo leukaemia; he died in July 1912 of respiratory and cardiac failure.
