Alfred de Rauch was from a wealthy family with German ancestors. He married fellow tennis player Madeleine Bourgeois on 16 December 1916 in Paris. She was the sister of two other tennis players, Germaine and Yvonne Bourgeois. Alfred de Rauch was probably better known as an ice hockey player than as a tennis player. He was a member of the Parisian skating and ice hockey club known as the Club des Patineurs de Paris, and represented France at ice hockey at both the European Championships and the Olympic Games.
