Adolphus Rosner was the son of Aleksander Rosner, a native of Arad, Romania, who had a Polish father, and Mary Elizabeth Rosner (née Haynes), who was from Auckland, New Zealand. Aleksander Rosner and Mary Haynes married each other in 1838 in Suva, Fiji. Adolphus Rosner was an accountant by profession and lived variously in Queensland and New South Wales.
