Homer Hotchkiss, Healdsburg boy, dies in Berkeley, Son of pioneer family of this section succumbs at age of 42

Homer Grove Hotchkiss, member of a pioneer family of the Healdsburg section and a native of this part of Sonoma County, died at Berkeley Saturday at the age of 42 years after an extended illness. He was the son of Mr William Joseph Hotchkiss and Mrs Lucretia Emma Hotchkiss (née Grove), being born on the Hotchkiss ranch south of Healdsburg. The youngest boy ever to graduate from Healdsburg high school, he continued his education through college, and became a civil engineer.

After graduation from the university be went to the gold mines of South Africa, where he worked for several years. Besides his parents, he is survived by a widow, Edna Hotchkiss, and a little daughter, Emma Lou. He was a brother of J. Miller, Linville L. and Marius W. Hotchkiss and Mrs. Hazel Virginia Wightman. His grandmother, Mrs Virginia Hotchkiss, is a resident of this section.

Homer Hotchkiss, and the family of which he was a member, are widely known throughout Sonoma County, and a legion of friends will be saddened by the news of his death. The funeral services and interment were strictly private.
