A medical doctor by profession. Also a politician; elected to Dáil Éireann as a Cumannnan Gaedheal Teachta Dála (TD) for the Meath constituency at the 1933 general election. He did not contest the 1937 general election. Brother of fellow lawn tennis player Cahir F. Davitt. They were the sons of the Irish republican and agrarian campaigner Michael Davitt, who founded the Irish National Land League, and was also a labour leader, Home Rule politician and Member of Parliament (MP).
