He was the son of Prince Peter Melikoff de Somhetie and Freiin unknown d'Osten-Sachsen.
He married Pauline Curran, daughter of John Bury Curran and Elizabeth Sarah Prosser, on 20 January 1926 at St. David´s Cathedral, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.He fought in the First World War. He gained the rank of officer in the service of the 13th Hussars, Rusisan Imperial Cavalry. He fought in the Russian Civil War between 1918 and 1921.
