From The Chattanooga Times, 19 March 1930: Knoxville Realtor Dies After Suicide Attempt. Knoxville, March 18: Dwight Raymond Meigs, 46, sportsman, scholar and businessman, died at a hospital here tonight of a bullet wound which police said was self-inflicted at his apartment this afternoon. A close friend said he had met with recent financial reverses. A man of varied interests, Mr Meigs had been headmaster of Hill School for Boys, Pottstown, Pennsylvania; was a graduate of Yale University and of Oxford University, England; and since coming here about seven years ago had developed several real estate and timber projects. [...] Who’s Who of several years ago listed Mr Meigs as being a member of the University and Yale Clubs, New York; the Racquet and Merion Cricket Club, Philadelphia; and the University Club, Chicago. He was a former city golf champion here.
