J. WESLEY LADD DEAD
Scion of Pioneer Family Ill Long Time
Ex-Banker and Sports Enthusiast Born in Portland 62 Years Ago; Funeral Today

After a long illness J. Wesley Ladd, 62, scion of a famous pioneer family, died yesterday at his home, 718 Talbot road. He had been home but a few hours, after spending a month in the hospital. His father, W. S. Ladd, was one of the founders of the old Ladd & Tilton bank of Portland.

John Wesley Ladd was born in this city January 3, 1870. He attended the public schools and the Bishop Scott Military academy, later going to preparatory schools in the east to get ready for Amherst college, which he attended.

Returning home from Amherst, he began working in his father's bank. There he was employed until the bank was absorbed by the United States National bank in 1925. He took a keen interest in outdoor sports, was a well-known football fan and an ex-president of the Portland Snowshoe club. He was a member of a number of clubs.

Mr. Ladd married Miss Dela Donelson of Portland, June 26, 1895. She survives, as does a daughter, Mrs. Alan Green; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Ladd Corbett of Portland and Mrs. F. B. Pratt of New York, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Holman & Lutz east side chapel. Interment will take place in the family plot in Riverview (sic) cemetery.
