Edwin Clendon studied law and was admitted to the Bar in 1887; in later life he was head of the legal firm Clendon and Vollemaere. At the time of his death he had been president of the Thames Golf Club for the past twenty years (Thames is a town on the North Island of New Zealand). Lawn tennis had been his favourite pastime before golf.
