English by birth, Harry Wright later lived in South Africa and, ultimately, Canada. A member of the teaching profession, he was for several years headmaster of Ashbury College in Ottawa, and later held the same position at Bishop’s College in Lennoxville, Quebec.
In 1918, Harry Wright married Helen Marjorie Beck (1897-1983) in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Helen Wright was one of Canada’s top female tennis players in the 1920s. An excellent all-rounder himself, Harry Wright excelled not only at tennis but also at golf, badminton and cricket.
