About

A cerebral man of clarity and vision who knew precisely where he wanted to help take the game and how he planned to pursue his primary goals, Philippe Chatrier was among the best and brightest men ever to serve at the highest administrative levels of tennis. He did more to shape the game than just about anyone in his time, working to restructure the Davis Cup, raising the stature of the French Championships, and pushing to get tennis back in the Olympic Games. As President of the International Tennis Federation, Chatrier was an intelligent and forceful leader.
