Lionel Angas was killed in action while serving with the British Army in France during World War One.

Angas, Lionel George, 2nd Lieutenant, 7th (Service) The Bedfordshire Regiment, 2 nd son of George Sample Angas, of 1 Winchester Road, Highgate Road, London, Insurance Surveyor, by his wife, Charlotte Gertrude, daughter of Joseph William Bell; [...] educated Council School, North Hill (Scholar); Owen’s School, Islington, (Scholar), and London University, where he obtained his B.A. degree, with Honours in History; was a Civil Service Clerk; volunteered for active service soon after the outbreak of war, September 1914; received a commission, and was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant The Bedfordshire Regiment in January 1915; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders, October 1916, being transferred to the 7th Battalion, and was killed in action at the attack on Chérisy, 3 May 1917. Buried where he fell.
