A lawyer by profession, Louis Transenster was the son of two other lawn tennis players, Paul Trasenster and Marie-Rose Transenster (née de Lavaleye), and the twin brother of another player, Émile Trasenster. Marguerite Trasenster, sister of Émile and Louis, was also a lawn tennis player; under her married name of Chaudoir she won the women’s singles title at the Belgian National Outdoor Championships in 1909. Her mother had won the same title at the same tournament in 1898, 1900 and 1904.
