About

Leslie Byron Wiggs was the son of Capt. Jesse Oliver Wiggs and Minnie Josephine Mathis of North Carolina. He attended Wilmington High School in Wilmington, NC, where he played football, and later attended the Tilerton Inst. In 1907, he graduated from the Medical College of Virginia (VCU) in Richmond.

Dr. Wiggs remained in Richmond, Va., following his graduation from medical school. On Nov. 18, 1916, in Richmond, Va., he married Lida Fair Reade, daughter of Dr. Frank M. Reade and Annie S. McConnell Reade originally of Massachusetts. He was an active member of the medical community in Richmond and accomplished much before his death in 1930.

Chief of Staff, City Home Hospital, Richmond, Va.; Attending Surgeon, City Free Dispensary, Richmond, Va. Medical College of Virginia (VCU) - Assoc. Prof. of Materia Medico and Pharmacology; Adjunct Prof. of Surgery; Demonstrator of Pharmacology and Physiology; and faculty member for the Athletic Assoc. Consultant in Kidney Diseases, Johnston-Willis Sanatorium, Richmond, Va. Author of several medical papers published in the Old Dominion Journal of Medicine and Surgery, the Southern Medical Journal and the American Journal of Clinical Medicine.
