Eyre “Bruiser” Saitch was a member of the New York Renaissance (Rens) basketball team for fifteen seasons, spanning from 1926 until his retirement in 1941. Saitch was an integral member of the Rens when they captured the inaugural World Professional Basketball championship, which was played in Chicago in 1939.

As a member of the Renaissance team Saitch was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Eyre Saitch was also a national level tennis player, and in 1926 notably won the men’s singles title at the American Tennis Association (ATA) Championships. He also won the men’s doubles title at the ATA Championships three times: in 1926 (with Theodore Thompson) and in 1928 and 1929 (with Dr Sylvester Smith).
