About

Philadelphia architect for over 30 years, Edmund Gilchrist Sr moved to Bar Harbor ME in the early 1940's. He was married to the former Anita Sheppard in May 1913. He was survived by his wife, Anita, sons Alan, Edmund Beman Jr., Edgar S., and Peter, and 6 grandchildren.

He was a member of the American Institute of Architects (1916-1942) and elected to Fellowship in 1938. His designs include the Unitarian Church of Germantown, the clubhouse for the Cosmopolitan Club on Latimer Street, and the Police and Fire buildings in Chestnut Hill. He also designed several home plans that were showcased in House and Garden magazine.
