Civil Engineer. Son of Thomas Hugh Boorman, in the asphalt business, and Charlotte Johnson (Sayre) Boorman. He was raised in New York City and attended prep school at Barnard School to prepare for Columbia University. He ran on the Columbia varsity track and relay teams as a junior and senior. He ran on the Class Track, Cross country, and Relay teams, being captain of the latter in his senior year. He also played on the varsity tennis team for two years, serving as captain as a senior. After graduation in 1908, Boorman remained at Columbia to complete a degree in Civil Engineering. He joined the Frederick deP. Hone and Company, engineers, in 1911, and served as a consulting engineer for his father's asphalt business. On Thursday, February 3, 1915, He married Dorothy Dean In St. Paul’s Chapel in New York City.
