Archibald Braskpear was the brother of fellow lawn tennis player George Brakspear. They were two of the children of William Henry Brakspear and Ann Elizabeth Brakspear (née Young). William H. Brakspear was a descendant of the man of the same name, of the brewery W.H. Brakspear & Sons Ltd.
