Henry Sykes attended Repton School before going up to Cambridge University. He later took holy orders and was for a number of years a missionary abroad.

Ordained deacon (Hereford) 1883; priest, 1884; Church of All Saints, Hereford, 1883-5. Missionary (C.M.S.) at Ramleh, Syria, 1886-8; at Jaffa, 1888-9; at Salt, 1888-96; at Nazareth, 1896-1901; at Jerusalem, 1901-4. Secretary, C.M.S. Palestine Mission, 1904-20. Vicar of Yealand Conyers, Lanes., 1924-7. Died Oct. 11, 1927.
