In 1895, Cornell struggled to a 3-4-1 record. Despite his team’s lack of success, Big Red quarterback Clint Wyckoff would be named to the All-America team. He was an intense 5-7, 141-pound athlete with an imaginative football mind who richly deserved the honour of becoming Cornell’s first All-America. In selecting the All-America team Caspar Whitney called Wyckoff “a brilliant player, and a good general who was responsible for all of the team's success”.
Wyckoff was as intense in his studies as he was in his football adventures and he graduated from Cornell with a degree in Law. After college he went on to become one of Buffalo’s leading industrialists and continued to serve as president and treasurer of the Atlas Steel Casting Company until his death.
