Served in the South African War, 1899-1902 (Lovat Scouts). Member of Parliament for South Shropshire, 1903-18. Served in the Great War, 1914-19 (Major, London Yeomanry (Territorial Force Res.); Major, City of London Rough Riders).

Succeeded his father at Boreatton Park, December 5, 1878. Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant. Lord of the manor of Baschurch.
