Robert Blencowe was the brother of fellow lawn tennis players William, Ada, Evelyn and Gertrude Blencowe. They were five of the children of William Blencowe, senior, a brewer, and Mary Anne Blencowe (née Lea). Robert Blencowe later emigrated to Australia.
