Anthony A. Weldon was the brother of fellow lawn tennis player Thomas H. Weldon. Both brothers attended Cambridge University.

Weldon, Anthony Arthur. Admitted pensioner, at Trinity, October 10, 1881. Eldest son of Sir Anthony Crosdill, [5th] Baronet, of Kilmorony, Athy, County Kildare (and Elizabeth Caroline Thomasina, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Kennedy). School, Charterhouse. Matriculated Michaelmas 1881; B.A. 1884. Lieutenant, Leinster Regiment, 1885; Captain, 1887; Major, 1899.

Aide-de-Camp to Lord Wolseley, Commander-in-Chief, 1895-1900. Served in the South African War, 1899-1902 (mentioned in despatches twice; D.S.O., 1901). Of Rahinderry, Queen’s County. Succeeded as 6th Baronet, January 14, 1900. Deputy Lieutenant for Queen’s County; Justice of the Peace for Queen;s County and County Kildare. High Sheriff of Queen’s County, 1906. State Steward and Chamberlain to the Lord-Lieutenant, 1908-17. Lord-Lieutenant for Co. Kildare.

Married, February 11, 1902, Winifred Bruce Blakeney, daughter of Colonel J. E. Vart-Rogers, of Broxmore Park, Romsey, and had issue. Served in the Great War, 1914-19 (Colonel, Leinster Regiment; Brevet Colonel).
