Married fellow lawn tennis player Hazel Hotchkiss in 1912. Although they later divorced, George and Hazel Wightman had five children together, some of whom also took part in lawn tennis tournaments. A lawyer by profession, George Wightman was also involved in the administrative side of lawn tennis.
