Sandy Wilson, as he was known, was a leather merchant by profession, and an all-round sportsman who, in addition to taking part in lawn tennis tournaments, was a member of the Nottingham Rugby Football Club in his native city of Nottingham. Between 1898 and 1909, he appeared 137 times for the rugby club in question.
