About

On August 28, 1936, Jiro Fujikura, a former member of the Japanese Davis Cup team, arrived at the Port of Santos from Japan. He was received on the pier by the directors of the Tênis Clube de Santos, and his arrival was widely publicized.

Brought to Brazil by Casa Tozan, a Japanese export company established in Santos at the time, he had a mission: to strengthen the Tênis Clube de Santos, which was then celebrating 10 years of foundation.

And he achieved more than that, he revolutionized the techniques then prevalent in Brazil, and for some years he remained undefeated, even defeating foreign tennis players.
