Smith, Rupert Hamblin. Admitted pensioner, at Peterhouse, Apr. 21, 1891. Youngest son of James Hamblin (1846), of Cambridge. Matriculated Michaelmas 1891; B.A. 1895; M.A. 1899. Esquire Bedell, 1913-36. A solicitor; but did not practise. Agent in Cambridge for Messrs Gabbitas and Thring.

A prominent Freemason; Deputy Grand Master of Cambridgeshire and Past Master of the Isaac Newton University Lodge. Married, August 29, 1912, Maria Isabella, daughter of E.J. Gross, of Gonville and Caius College. Of 7, Botolph Lane, Cambridge. Died, suddenly, Aug. 19, 1936, on the Woodbridge golf course. Suffolk.
