He started in the 1930s with passing balls in RKT Rybnik. And whenever he could, he also tried to recapture them a bit ... During World War II, he served in the 1st Armored Division of general Stanisław Maczek. “In 1945 he won the championship of the English army of the Rhine, stationed in Germany. He played there under the pseudonym Badura. After returning to Poland, he settled in Gliwice, but at the end of 1947 he moved to Bielsko, becoming the best BBTS player. He lived in one of the rooms on the ground floor of the clubhouse. There was no heating in it, so in winter Buchalik warmed his hands over the electric stove. Stanisław Krzyżanowski, a factory owner from Bielsko, gave him a coupon of woolen material, from which tasteful clothes were immediately sewn for him. As BBTS management did not grant Buchalik decent housing, he left Bielsko in 1951, moved to Gliwice and soon (1953) to Katowice, supporting the Górnik club. " *
He was a player with high physical endurance, but typically defensive. In this defense, he used high balls (half-balls), which he often successfully passed by attacking opponents at the net. He won the Polish Championship in 1952 in unusual circumstances. First, he won the tournament in a knockout system, and then had to prove his superiority in an additional, judged-by competition between the four semi-finalists. Czesław Ludwiczek writes about it in his book "Tenis na Śląsku", referring to the account of Tadeusz Nowicki, who was the boy serving balls in this tournament. "Historyczny", the first winner of the Polish indoor championships. However, it was decided that he won such a title ... a decade later, rectifying the regulatory ambiguities on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the PZT.
