From The Edinburgh Evening News, 6 September 1961:

A former Border tweed chief dies

The death has occurred in a London nursing home of Mr Charles J. Glenny, a former managing director of the Hawick tweed manufacturing firm of Wilson & Glenny Ltd. He was aged 90. In his youth, Mr Glenny was a well-known sportsman. For many years he was Border tennis champion, a keen cyclist, and was reported to be the first man in Hawick to run a motor car.

Until blindness overtook him a few years ago he remained remarkably active and alert, travelling round the world with his daughter when he was 80, and covering much of the journey by air. Born into a Quaker family, Mr Glenny remained a loyal member of the Edinburgh Meeting to the end. He was twice married and leaves two sons and three daughters.
